The Team
We understand people, not just the tools.
Plenty of people know their way around the latest AI tools. The rarer thing, and the harder one, is understanding how people actually learn, reason, and change the way they work. That is what the people behind TaiLORED IDEAS bring. We come to this as scientists of the human mind first, so the training is built on how people genuinely think and take on something new, not on guesswork that happens to come with knowing the software.
Principal & Founder
Dr Ryan Jesson
Here’s the thing I learned as an undergraduate psychology student that forged my path: it feels like we are the thinkers of our thoughts, but the closer truth is that most thinking happens to us. My work is to help people see that happening, so they can reason, judge, and decide more clearly. So workplaces are safer, decisions are fairer, and people are happier in the work they do.
I spent years teaching and researching cognitive science inside a university. I loved the science and I loved the teaching. But what I really wanted was for the work to leave the building, to stop living behind paywalls and lecture theatre doors. That’s why I started TaiLORED IDEAS: to be the bridge that carries the science into the spaces and lives where it can have real impact. Right now that work lives foremost in helping people use and think with AI, because this is the defining shift of the moment. Whether this technology shapes us for better or worse is something we have a say in, and I’m invested in helping tip that answer toward better.

“Very helpful in providing a grounding and understanding of LLMs and Ryan is very interesting providing examples of the why.”
“Ryan is a great Teacher and this training course is very user friendly.”
Senior Specialist
Dr David Maij
My research background is in cognitive neuroscience, and I earned my PhD researching how people learn. I’ve spent my career on the applied side of that science, helping schools and organisations turn it into change that actually sticks: in how they work, how they decide, and how they take on new tools.
In the Netherlands, that work grew into Learning Habit, a consultancy I built into a thriving business with a team of specialists delivering it alongside me. We translate cognitive science into training for schools and organisations, with a particular focus on behaviour change and habit formation. I also follow the research on AI closely, publishing on it weekly, and I co-founded a venture bringing it into education.
Underneath all of it is one question I’ve never stopped chasing: how do you actually get people to change the way they think and work? I’m critical and creative by instinct, but what I care about most is simple: taking something difficult and making it easy to grasp. Recently I swapped Dutch winters for Australian sunshine, a big and genuinely exciting change, and I’m eager to bring this work with me, building alongside Ryan around a conviction we share, that the science only matters if you can make it usable.
